Major Investment in Antalya

Protecting the Future of Quality Tourism

When we look at the latest news headlines from Antalya, the news of a 243 million TL investment by the ministry for the Serik-2 Wastewater Treatment Plant and Associated Infrastructure Facility to be allocated to the Belek Region is noteworthy. This facility, which will be implemented within the scope of the protocol prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, had its foundation laid in February 2019. According to the project, the first phase will meet the needs until 2025, and the second phase until 2050. The completion of the project seems likely to be in September 2021.

Work Continues for Kemer and Alanya

Due to the saturation of the capacities of the Belek 1 and Belek 2 treatment plants operated by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Water and Wastewater Administration (ASAT) General Directorate, the aging technology of these plants, and their completion of their economic life, the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism decided to find common ground in a project that will contribute to protecting the future of quality tourism in the Belek region. With the cooperation protocol, a first in Turkey between the Ministry and ASAT, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will provide 243 million TL in financial support for the works and ensure the construction of the facilities. After the completion of construction, the Ministry will undertake the operation for a period of 20 years and then hand it over to ASAT. When the facility starts operating, an average of 65,000 cubic meters of wastewater will be able to be treated per day. After the completion of both phases, the total facility capacity will be able to reach 130,000 cubic meters. The project's goal is to build a single central facility to treat domestic wastewater from the region and to provide a high level of environmental protection and centralized wastewater management by decommissioning existing treatment plants. 37% of the first phase of the project is complete. In addition to this news published in Antalya's latest breaking news, in accordance with the model agreed upon in the protocol with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, it is aimed to renew the wastewater infrastructures of Kemer Wastewater Treatment Plant, Beldibi-Göynük Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Alanya Wastewater Treatment Plant in the coming years.
