Changes Foreseen in Chambers of Engineers and Architects Laws

New Laws Being Prepared for TMMOBIt has been stated that new laws concerning the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) are being prepared. With the amended laws, they will not be able to issue regulations or file lawsuits without the approval of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. The government has announced for the past year that it will make changes to all laws related to chambers of engineers and architects. All document and approval processes will now require application to the Ministry of Environment. The timing of this legal change, particularly after the Gezi protests, is drawing significant attention from the Chambers of Architects and Engineers.Decisions Taken Published in Draft Architect LawAll decisions taken within the framework of the chambers of engineers and architects have been published in the draft architect law. Some temporary articles in the draft, if approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, could come into effect; without approval, their enactment is not possible. If the laws come into force, all legal provisions can be changed entirely within 6 months.
