Legal Procedures by Authorized Companies
Energy saving practices are among the important steps taken for the economy in our country in recent years. Energy saving is a practice in our country that aims to increase energy efficiency within our own resources and has achieved considerable success in this regard. Our country, which benefits from the energy resources of other countries, has significantly reduced its dependence on external countries in the use of energy resources with this practice. Energy saving practices have been carried out legally in our country since 2011. In order for energy saving practices in buildings to be implemented correctly and legally, the energy performance certificate has been made mandatory. The energy performance certificate is prepared by private companies authorized in this field for a certain fee. With the preparation of the certificate, which is followed step by step by expert engineers from the start of the buildings, occupancy permits are issued for the buildings. The energy performance certificate is a document that shows the efficiency of resource use in heating, cooling, ventilation, and lighting areas and prevents waste. With the law enacted in this regard, buildings that do not obtain an EPC cannot obtain an occupancy permit. With the energy saving practice, the materials used in buildings have also been made of higher quality. The preparation of this document has been entrusted to private companies to prevent time loss and allow people to continue their work in this field without delay.
Occupancy Permits Are Not Issued for Buildings Without an EPC
Private companies also handle the legal procedures during the preparation of the certificate. That is, all processes are carried out by the companies until the occupancy report is obtained. After the certificate is approved, occupancy permits are issued for the buildings. Energy performance certificates, which are valid for 10 years, can be renewed free of charge under certain circumstances. The energy saving certificate is prepared by architects and engineers specialized in the field. With this practice initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, it has become a requirement to obtain this certificate in buildings built since 2011 and in old buildings in our country. Old buildings must complete these practices by 2017. Occupancy permits are not issued for buildings without this practice. An energy performance certificate is definitely required in the occupancy report of newly constructed buildings. Energy saving practices are also mandatory in buildings such as apartments, hotels, offices, shopping malls, hospitals, and schools.
